Our Manteca Dentist frequently sees patients who are surprised to realize they have not been brushing their teeth well enough. Your smile depends on your awareness and dedication to good oral hygiene practices. Here are a few gentle reminders for your dental health awareness:
Brush for Two Minutes.
Dr. Awnie Ammar, DDS and the ADA recommend brushing your teeth for at least two minutes per session. Give each quadrant at least 30 seconds of proper attention. If this feels like a challenge, consider buying an electric toothbrush with a timer. Listening to a song every time you brush can make it fun for the children. There’s an app for that!
Brush in Circles.
To clean your teeth and gums effectively, brushing should be in small circles. Brushing from side to side doesn’t reach the entire surface area, as brushing in circles cleans the nooks and crannies. Be gentle to protect your gums.
Replace Your Toothbrush Often.
Time naturally wears down non-living things. The bristles on your toothbrush are much more effective when they are fresh and clean. Old toothbrushes are ideal for bacteria to grow. Your Manteca Dentist has the solution for both issues and gently reminds you to replace your toothbrush every three months. We may have a replacement for you to take home from your next dental exam.
Remember to Do it Every Day.
Brush at least twice a day and floss daily. If you choose an especially decadent meal or treat, brush again to stay fresh and clean. Cavities love laziness. Remember to keep your teeth clean to practice proactive oral health habits.
